Position Summary:

Under the direction of the Administrator, Faith Manor, the Dietary Manager is responsible for planning, organizing, implementing and controlling all aspects of the Food Service Program of Faith Manor. 


Specific responsibilities include:

  • Prepare and implement orientation and in-service programs for dietary staff and others as required.
  • Provide direction and guidance to dietary staff. 
  • Conduct open lines of communication and meetings with dietary staff. 
  • Prepare seasonal, regular and therapeutic cycle menus with input from residents and staff, making current changes as required.
  • Establish standards for food production.
  • Confers with Registered Dietician Services as required. Ensures that quarterly documentation is completed for each resident.
  • Develop, maintain an updated recipe file in accordance with menus.
  • Plan and organize special catering events.
  • Establishes with the Administrator and the Director of Finance, operating budgets for all aspects of food service and special events. 
  • Be responsible in inventory control and selection of food and equipment supplies within budget guidelines
  • Review current Food Service Programs and order systems in controlling quality and maintaining cost effective products.
  • Review and improve current Food service and inventory process.
  • Maintain accurate diet records in accordance with Physicians orders.
  • Act as department liaison in meetings with residents, other department heads. Attend monthly department meetings.
  • Provide sufficient job training, direction and evaluation to placement students completing their practicum hours within the Dietary Department.
  • In compliance with all legislations such as Long Term Care Homes Act, Occupational Health and Safety Act, etc.
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Graduate of recognized Food Service Management Diploma Program.
  • Membership with Canadian Society of Nutrition Management.
  • Minimum three years management experience in the Long Term Care Homes.
  • Excellent Written and oral communication skills.
  • Good knowledge of Long Term Care Homes Act and Regulations.
  • Ability to interact positively with residents, client and other personnel and the public.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Good computer skills. 
  • Satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Screening
  • TB Test, Annual Flu immunization (unless medically exempt)
