Part- Time Food Service Manager

 

Position is a Permanent Part- Time (45 hours bi- weekly) at a 60 bed long- term care facility, located in Toronto, Ontario.

You shall be responsible for managing all aspects of the Food Service operations to meet the nutritional needs of the residents and to ensure the effective and efficient preparation and delivery of meals to the residents.

 The Food Service Manager shall:

  • Meet the ethical and legal requirements of the Food Service Profession and is in good standing with the Canadian Society of Nutrition Management. Plan, organize, and provide high quality dietary services for residents of the facility.
  • Select, supervise and motivate dietary staff; ensure dietary staff work as a team in order to provide a high level of productivity and the best use of staff capabilities.
  • Ensure environment of all food preparation and storage areas meets Public Health requirements.
  • Maintain all records in accordance with policies, procedures and legislative requirements, including the implementation and posting of all regular and therapeutic menus.
  • Obtain and maintain in full force and effect during the term of this agreement current and valid liability protection.
  • Direct and organize the Facility's dietary care consistent with the current Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care Compliance Management Program Standards and Criteria, the Long-Term Act and Regulations, the Food Premises Regulations under the Health Protection and Promotion Act and the Sanitation Code.
  • Manage the food service department to meet the residents' nutritional needs and the department's goals and objectives.
  • Ensure the procurement of all supplies necessary for the preparation of all meals, special events and nourishment in accordance specified.
  • Ensure the production of food is appropriate to the menu, physical plant, equipment, supplies and human resources, and is in accordance with the standards specified.
  • Ensure the service of food is in a courteous and timely manner in accordance with residents needs and is in accordance with the standards specified.
  • Ensure the completion of a nutritional profile on each resident on admission which is evaluated within one month and then at a minimum every six months or as required.
  • Maintain open communications between Dietary, Administration and Nursing departments.
  • Complete all forms pertaining to the dietary services program as required.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all resident information.
  • Maintain and update Show plate application as required.

Qualifications

  • Current membership in the Canadian Society of Nutritional Management (C.S.N.M.)
  • Post-secondary education and the successful completion of a recognized Food Services and Nutrition Management Program.
  • Minimum 2 years dietary management experience in long-term care setting
  • Strong leadership skills to direct the work of employees
  • Superb organizational, time management and multi-tasking skills
  • Experience managing employees within a unionized setting
  • Knowledge of in MDS nutritional section.
  • Participate in Occupational Health & Safety practices, principles and legislation.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills are essential
  • Customer-focused with high emphasis on building and maintaining relationships with clients.
