Reporting to the Director of Operations and Leadership, the Manager of Food Services is responsible for the overall operation of the food services department that serves residents in three programs at two sites. Central City Lodge houses the Long Term Care and Addictions Recovery residents while Cooper Place houses the Assisted Living residents.

As a member of the management team, the position needs to collaborate with other department managers to enhance the quality of life for both residents and employees.  The position is an influential member of the management group responsible for the operational and strategic planning for the organization.

The Manager of Food Services manages all foodservice employees as well as, the department budget consisting of employees, food and equipment. You can identify opportunities for improvement and then implement your creative ideas in a timely manner so as to make meals and special events a highlight of a resident’s day. Staffing responsibilities include hiring, training, evaluating, and scheduling all food services employees in accordance with Society policy and union agreements. The manager works with an experienced dietitian to develop and distribute meals that are appealing and meet the special needs of the residents and the Community Care Facilities Licensing Regulations.  The manager chairs the Resident Food Committee. 

The successful candidate will have completed a Nutrition and Food Service Management, Program, be a member of the Canadian Society of Nutrition Management, and have a minimum of 3 years management experience in a unionized health care facility. Other requirements are proficient computer skills in MS Word and Excel for scheduling purposes. Comprehensive knowledge of long-term care concepts and philosophies is preferred.
