Overview

Greenwoods Eldercare Society (GES) is a not for profit healthcare organisation that provides a range of services including: Greenwoods Long-Term Care (LTC) Residence, Braehaven Assisted Living (AL) Residence and community programs including Meals on Wheels.  Situated on beautiful Salt Spring Island, the community offers the perks of rural living within a short commute to Vancouver Island and easy access to Vancouver.

GES is seeking a dedicated and professional Support Services Manager to manage all aspects of support services including Food and Nutrition Services, Housekeeping, Laundry and Maintenance.

As part of the management team and working with an experienced, talented, skilled staff, the Support Services Manager is responsible for:

     ·         Human resources and Labour Relations management including, hiring, training, performance development and discipline

·         Managing the day to day operations ensuring that high level of standards are met

·         Ensuring compliance and delivery of services within all regulatory requirements

·         Performs required operational audits and quality control measures

·         Developing an understanding of Residents’ preferences/requirements and incorporate these preferences into menu development

·         Managing the emergency and safety plans for LTC and AL

·         Chairs the Joint Occupational Health and Safety Committee

·         Maintaining required records and documentation

·         Participating in the development, implementation, and monitoring of department budgets

·         Managing department costs including inventory control and AP approvals

·         Developing and maintaining relevant policies and procedures

·         Contributing to the overall management of GES through participation as a member of the Management Team

  

Qualifications

·         Current membership in the Canadian Society of Nutrition Management

·         Minimum five (5) years management experience within Support Services (Food and Nutrition Services, Housekeeping, Laundry and Maintenance)

·         Food Safe Level 2

·         Strong leadership, communication, interpersonal and organisational skills

·         Excellent verbal and written English language communication skills

·         WHMIS

·         Proficiency in IT applications including on-line ordering systems, spreadsheets, and word processing (experience with MS Office and Google Suites is desirable)

·         Experience managing unionized staff is an asset

·         Knowledge of the Community Care and Assisted Living Act is an asset
